Cultivation
At Fort20, Grant and his small team of superheroes take great care to maintain plant health every step of the way. It's a labour of love and pride for this legacy team.
Grow Facility
Indoor grown and controlled from start to finish, we have built this space custom for our needs based on the team's vast experience and expertise since the pre-legal days with this plant.
Feed & Nutrients
Fort 20 uses several nutrient types and is constantly trying new products in our hunts to compare best performance. And even though we are salt based feeding, Grant still flushes the plants with cold water at the end of the cycle which is a big reason we get the results we want every time!
Often salt nutrients will be pushed right to harvest, and we don’t see it like that. The smoothness in the smoke and the burn and ash itself can be greatly affected by this approach. Each plant often wants slightly different care, which is why we source genetics that play nice with each other!
Pest & Disease Management
At Fort20 we don't use any harsh chemicals, herbicides or pesticides and even use beneficial insects in the event of any pest or challenge. Only treated in the initial veg phase, not during flower. We keep it clean.
Grow Medium
Growing in Coco cubes offer amazing aeration and drainage, helps hold structure and offers more flexibility than something like rockwool when it comes to maintaining moisture in the event of a power loss or blockage in the dripper system. The cubes give the grower more time to react to any challenge.
We made the hard decision to move away from soil beds due to many factors, but mainly based on yield outcomes and less complicated operating procedures, which are paramount to a small micro
business.
We certainly appreciate the benefits of soil and full nutrient natural feeding. The numbers just didn't work for our team. And survival is most critical to be sure. We feel transparency is paramount to our retailers and consumers. We want you to know WHY we do what we do!
Harvest
Our plants will sometimes go a bit longer for maximum weight and expression, but the team will also use ice blocks and cold water to drop the temp in the room significantly for the last 5-6 days and remove the CO2 in order to get the deep purple violet expression you see in our product when the plant is stressed in its final stage of flowering. Harvesting every 30 days on our staggered crops to always keep it rolling!
Trim
We hand trim all of our big buds and only machine trim the smalls to keep the cost down for the consumer.
Our trim team is meticulous and does an amazing job with care to protect trichome integrity and minimize any value loss.
Dry & Cure
Our drying rooms are attached to our flower rooms, so super easy to harvest and hang dry. Usually a 10-13 day dry time , followed by 3 week bin cure, burping several times each day. Our genetics smoke well right off the vine, but even better with the tight cure to offer better shelf stability to retailers and the best expression of the plant and smoke quality.
Preparation
When all is ready , our processing team are careful to package our smalls without stem, and our bigs are carefully selected to make
sure the customers are happy when they crack it open!
Pre-Rolls
Our pre-rolls are manufactured in partnership with Straight Pro Roll in Penticton, ensuring consistency, quality control, and a reliable finished product.
